Many people often ask why I don’t enjoy life with parties, different romantic relationships,
drinking, meeting new people, and doing crazy things that they consider fun, but which really
only bring pain, destruction, sadness, and emptiness to your life. My response is that I now
enjoy life more than ever; I live it to the fullest. Do you know why? Because now I am a
follower of the One who truly fills my life with joy and purpose, who showed me my true
worth and identity, who loves me with everlasting love, and gives meaning to everything I am
and do, and that is Jesus.
Psalm 30:11 (NLT) "You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing; you have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy."
You might wonder what it means to be a follower of Jesus. Today, I want you to know that it
is not like many say; it is not boring, it is not about stopping enjoying life, it is not a series of
prohibitions, and it is not about being or dressing weird. Not at all.
When we talk about a follower, we are talking about someone who gives total loyalty and
support to another. So, when you become a follower of Jesus, you are saying, "I am loyal to
Jesus," and being loyal to Him involves effort and dedication. It means forgiving, loving,
committing to obey, and setting aside everything that breaks that loyalty to Him. But most
importantly, it is about recognizing what He did on the cross for us, acknowledging that
Jesus came to earth, died, and rose again so that we might have eternal life. When you
recognize all He has done, I assure you that you will become a passionate and enamored
follower of Him and His presence, setting aside what He can give you, because you
understand that the greatest gift was given to you on the Cross.
Romans 5:8 (NLT) "But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for
us while we were still sinners."
One of the things that will happen in your life when you become a follower of Jesus is that
● you will no longer be the same person you were before. Everything you did that
destroyed you or perhaps harmed others will remain in the past, but it will not be
something magical; it will be a life of prayer and dedication to His presence, in which
we delight every day.
2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things
have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
● You will be a person full of joy even in the midst of adversity, knowing that all things
work together for good for those who love God, that you don’t need a perfect life
because you know you are in the boat with the best captain, who is Jesus.
Isaiah 43:2-3 "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the
rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be
burned, nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of
Israel, your Savior."
He will make you a fisher of men, which means being prepared to speak of your faith, help
others, and show them why your life is now different.
When we know something good that we enjoy or a person we love to share time with, we
want many others to know about it too, so they can have just as much fun or even more than
we do. That’s what happens when we fall in love and become followers of Jesus; we want
many to know Him, to learn about Him, and we want to spend time by His side every day, so
others can see Him through us and become passionate followers of Jesus.
That is why I want you to know today that the best way to enjoy our life is by falling in love
with Jesus. He captivated me one day, transformed me, changed my path, and most
beautifully, gave His life for me. Now I am a crazy, passionate, in-love follower of Jesus.
Even with my imperfections, weaknesses, and humanity, I do my best to be faithful and loyal
to Him.
John 14:6 "Jesus answered, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.'
I invite you to be a passionate follower of Jesus!!!!
